Level 3- Performance and Distributed Cognition

I found level three really hard. When we got to the website about quantum computing and the way it works, I was completely lost. I was at first frustrated, but I realized that I am allowed to seek outside help to solve the problem. I consider Distributed Cognition the ability to use the tools available online to figure out new things. I started with google and Wikipedia to learn about quantum computing, but realized this was still too difficult. I next went to youtube and watched a few videos that helped. The best resource was wiki answers where I pretended to be a struggling University student (Performance) and asked some specific questions. It was a good thing I did some research so I didn’t appear too dumb :0)

These are the skills I used to complete the level.

Level 3 skills that I have used before: Distributed Cognition and Performance

When I have homework trouble I sometimes use Yahoo Answers go get help. Usually within a few hours, someone is able to help me with a math problem that I just don’t understand. When I can see it done and explained by someone who is not my teacher, I can work backwards and figure out how to do that type of problem. This is a good example of Distributed cognition.

One time I was able to help someone with a problem. A math question was asked and I knew how to do it. When I was writing my response I realized that giving the answer wasn’t enough and that I would need to take on the role of the teacher and explain step by step like my teacher does. This is a clear example of Performance.
